MAD COW

The recent outbreak of foot and mouth disease reminded me of an incident some years ago when the cattle of this country - and elsewhere - were being ravaged with BSE - also called “mad cow disease” - (although when people contracted the variant it was never referred to as “mad people’s disease”!) Anyway, a party of us were having a barbecue  somewhere in Wales.  The conversation turned naturally to “mad cow disease” and various concerns were expressed until one gentleman brought it to an abrupt end.

“Mad cow?  Mad cow wont hurt you”, he  said. “I’ve been married to one for years!”
