A few words from Doug Radford
19/02/2008 by Ted.
A good and faithful servant
First, grateful thanks to Ted for allowing me to post a message on your family blog. I have been checking your blog almost every day recently, and I have been very touched by the messages. The ship disappearing over the horizon is particularly relevant for us, isn’t it.
Pru was a special friend to me when I lived in Mainsgate Road. She always made me welcome with tea and cake, and we would often talk about our respective families and friends, and pray for them together. As I think back to those days, I am reminded of a speaker I heard at a Christian meeting. He was talking about heaven and who would be there, and he said that we wouldn’t recognise some of the people on the ‘top table’ with Jesus. They wouldn’t necessarily be famous evangelists and church leaders - there would be people of faith and humility, real saints who had spent their time helping and praying for others. That’s how I remember Pru, and when I get to heaven I expect to see her way up there near the top of the guest list, worshipping the God she loved so much. Thank God for Pru, and people like her.
I hope everything goes really well on Wednesday, and there is lots of joy as your family and friends are reunited. I will be remembering you all at 11.30am, and I look forward to seeing many of you again sometime in the future, in this world or the next.
Doug Radford, Pru’s neighbour 1987-1995.
