GOODBYE TO 2008

Hi everyone,

I dont know if any of you have looked back over the blog archive for 2008. Last January Mum’s condition was slowly deteriorating. We also attended the funeral of her sister Kathleen in January. Then on 8th February little mum went into hospital where she passed away on 11th February. I found it all quite tear-jerking to read and live over again.

Since then life has resumed a more normal course for us all, although it is not possible to do many things without being reminded of her. I couldn’t count the number of times I have been brought to a halt and had to exclaim “Eh little mum!” as I have come across something poignant. But during the past year since she went I have received reassurance after reassurance that she is alive and well with dad and Gwen: still actively with us and caring for her big family. For me the year has been a journey of discovery as I was led from here to here to there - the whole still-continuing journey speaking of that same thing - that all is well with them, and the best is yet to come

HELLO TO 2009

That the best is yet to come takes some believing as we take our first tentative steps into 2009 and look around. One thing that is for certain is that the best, when it does come, will not be happening in the UK. But I’ll not get into that for therein lies despair.

For we lesser mortals the New Year lies at our feet. And the secret of surviving and enjoying it is to let your love flow - to your own families, to our larger family and to everyone else in the world as well. If someone doesn’t like you find it in your heart to love them and - if you are a praying person - pray down blessings into their life. If someone harms you or behaves hatefully to you, do the same - forgive them and love them and call down even more blessings into their lives. Not only will it change their attitude to you, but what you are doing will bless you too. I think the current idiom is “What goes round comes round”. Jesus said, “What you sow you reap”.  It is a law of the Universe. Sow love and reap a harvest of love, sow a blessing and get a blessing in return. And, most of all, love everybody. We are all people, all the same!

Right, for 2009, for everyone of you, and especially anyone who dislikes me or hates me or even just thinks me a bit iffy, may every imaginable blessing pour into your life to enrich it and fill it with every good thing. May you know peace in your heart and may love and happiness flow to you and from you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

EVERYONE!

Happy New Year.

Just wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and hope you all had a great Christmas, lots of love Lynda and Daniel xxx

I have just finished reading, and am just about to start reading again, an astonishing non-fiction book, The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot (I know of no direct relationship) the first part of the Introduction to which is shown in the thumbnail. It is a mind-bending book based on current scientific and other evidence which challenges everything we think we now ‘know’ and ‘understand’ about our universe and that which lies beyond.

I heartily commend it to you. I obtained my copy through Amazon for around £6. The ISBN number is ISBN 0 586 091718. Richard and Andrew I know would love it. But be prepared ….. I believe you, like me, will never ’see’ anything in the same way again.

Bon voyage,

Ted.

Seasons Greetings everyone!

I hope this morning of the 25th December finds everyone happy and in good health.

Quiet one for us this year, only Janette, Sarah, Joel and myself for dinner so it looks like we will be eating turkey until the new year. We have all almost got over ‘THE VIRUS’ except that it has left me with a nasty cough and a course of antibiotics. Bad virus that one, bordering on flue symptoms for severity.

The weather is rather pleasant on the peninsula this morning, so might have a little walk later.

Janette is much happier as she is getting to grips with her dizziness which has improved but not gone yet. However her gastritis seems OK now which is a massive help as she is now eating reasonably well. Thank you Lord!

Anyway, have a really nice day with your families everyone and spare a moments thought for all those turkey’s who have nobly laid down thier lives for us. May thier sacrifice not be in vain.

All our love and best wishes

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

Loving Christmas greetings to all members of our family.

The sun is shining here today. Hope it is where you are too.

Have a wonderful time wherever you are.

Much love as always,

Ted.

25 December 2008.

Today we celebrate the coming into the world of

Jesus

and send Christian love and greetings to our friends and readers all over the world.

Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ, the Lord.

SHORTEST DAY + 1

Today it is dull and raining and I can’t see the hills for low cloud and mist. But because we are now past the shortest day the day feels GREAT!

I shouted to my eighty-five-ish year old neighbour, “Spring in the air!!!!!”

He replied morosely, “I wish I could”

WHOOPEE !!!! IT’S HERE !!!!

It’s Saturday again

Greetings families,

I trust everyone is well and that Andee and family have got over their SAD and cold viruses. Winter always is hard to get on with and I like to punctuate it with highlights to look forward to - like the shortest day and then there is Christmas and then looking for the first snowdrop and so on. I was looking forward to some photographs of sunny Cuba too - ahem, ahem!

This week Grace and I had a wonderful visit to Rowley Regis to see James and Kasia snd Gabriella and new baby Jonathan. I had been promising myself a visit for ages but the thought of a hundred and seventy miles of motorway driving to get there had proved a hindrance. However we went down by train and really enjoyed the journey. James met me at his local station, Smethwick Galton Gate, and that rounded off a near perfect journey.

Of course the pleasure really started when we reached James and Kasia’s home and we were immersed in their lovely company proper. A bit of hands-on with baby Jonathan and then Gabriela (four years of age) arrived home from school with a “hello grandad” and the party was complete. It was a wonderful time together. The highlight of the visit was perhaps after I had read Gabriela a bedtime story and she said wistfully, “You go home tomorrow when I am at school”. “Yes”, I said, “but I will come again”, to which she replied “I can’t wait”. Aaaaah!

Well, the next big event - after the SHORTEST DAY - is, unbelievably, Christmas. I can’t imagine how it has got here so quickly. But then after Christmas it is downhill all the way to Summer again. Guaranteed.

I’ll no doubt do a post or two before then.  Well someone has to keep them coming. Incidentally I haven’t heard from Lord Fly since he left to do his Christmas shopping in the politicians half term holiday a couple of weeks ago. It seems quiet without him.

Right, that’s me lot! (Who said, Hooray?) I’m off to do my Christmas shopping,

Loads of love to everybody,

Ted.

Baby Jonathan, Gabriela and grandad Ted.

Hello everyone

Nothing much to report really. We are all taking it in turns at the moment to catch the cold virus that is circulating (I love winter!)

Hope everyone else is in good health. Thanks to you all for keeping Janette in your thoughts and prayers - much appreciated.

I actually wrote a post about a week ago but I must have been in rather a pensive frame of mind at the time so I deleted it (did’nt want you all rushing for the razor blades). I think i have a touch of the SAD syndrome, roll on summer.

Lot’s of love and XXX

Andee and family

Failed again …….

Thought I would get myself a table runner for Christmas - but they were running too fast and I couldn’t catch one!

But you can’t beat a real hands-on hug …….

….. and I have had one or two of those this week when I visited Peter and Barbara and Andrew and Janette.

Then this afternoon I called on Gwen’s Tracy and youngest son Jack.

Jack is four years of age and was busy on his laptop.  He readily gave me a demonstration of his skill with a game on the computer but admitted that he can’t yet send e-mails.  Wow!

I can’t remember what I used to do at four years of age, but whatever it was it couldn’t compare to that. In appreciation I gave him a kiss on top of his head which (as four year olds do) he immediately brushed off.  So I picked it up and tried to place it on Shep (the dog’s) head, but he took exception too and barked at me.  So I left it at that and gave Tracy a hug instead and one for her to give to Jack on my behalf as he ran away when I offered to give him one.

Tracy’s eldest son Thomas was out doing a bit of courting, and Harry was out with his mates, so I didn’t see them.  However I do come across them in town (that’s Millom!) from time to time and they are both very handsome young men.  Their mum must be real proud of them.

It has not been a bad type of day here today.  Fine with some sunshine but cold.  I notice that some of my Spring bulbs are once again showing above the compost, but I have left them to it this time.  After all, they must know what they are doing.

I am hoping to go down to the West Midlands this week to see my new grandson Jonathan and his lovely sister Gabriela - together, of course, with their mum and dad - Kasia and James.  I am looking forward to seeing them and, of course again, there will be a bit of real hands-on hugging going on. So, news about that later.

OK, I had better get off now in case Sue wants to upload her photographs.  She and Bryan seem to have had better weather than Peter and Barbara during their trip to Tenerife.  Peter told me that he needed an extra blanket at night and the temperature never got above 21 degrees all week.  No-one could remember it being so cold! Planet warming?????

Right, I’m off.  My love to everyone out there,

Ted.

Welcome back Sue

Braincells, frosty mornings - or maybe just your lack of sleep, Sue!

I dont just “send hugs”.  I give hugs by picturing each person in my mind and then, in my mind, giving that person a hug.  It was ANTHONY who got the hug. Jonathan got his later during my visit to Bolton.

Thinking about it a bit more, location is irrelevant.  I gave you a hug in Fang Foss even though you were in Cuba.  But it was still you I hugged.

I find  hugging in my mind is a lot more personal than just “sending hugs”.  When you hug in your mind your feelings and heart get involved too, and you actually pass on love as well as the hug. (And when you pass on love it reflects back into your own heart and gives you a warm glow too).

Look forward to the photos.

Much love to you and Bryan,

Dad.

Just back from Cuba!!!

Hii all , just a quickie. Bryan and I arrived back from our trip to Cuba this afternoon and I just popped on to see what has been happening in the family.

Big Boob dad you sent hugs to Jonathon in Brid when he lives in Bolton. Poor Anthony was left hugless. Please get those brain cells rejuvenated or perhaps it is those frosty mornings in Millom. Brrrrr

We have come home to a wet, wet day from Manchester to Fangfoss, rain all the way. Not slept since getting up in sunny Varedero on Friday morning at 8am and in Cuban time it is now Saturday at 12 lunch time. Hoping to get some sleep soon. Will post some photos when I get chance to download them.

Love to all

Sue and Bryan.

And now …… feet up, and a nice cup of tea (with the seagulls????)

nice-cup-of-tea.gif

……. and so back to Millom ………

……. with a big hug each for Mark and Carole (saving the best till last!).  Ouch, I shouldn’t have said that.

You are  ALL the best, honest.

Love to you both, Mark and Carole,

Dad.
